Worship
 |
|
We believe worship must be the natural response of a people touched by God and excited at the prospect of following him 24/7. Here at St Barnabas we seek to worship God individually in our workplaces, schools, homes, relationships; and also corporately as a church family. We are committed to a ministry of worship that is rooted in the Bible and that fosters three core values: worship that cultivates surrender, worship that pursues integrity, worship that fuels us for God’s mission.

Style
Our style of worship is lively and charismatic at the 10.30am and 6.30pm Sunday services. We use contemporary songs alongside some of the remodernised hymns. Our passion is for everyone to meet with the Lord Jesus during our times of sung worship. This is led by the worship leader and band.

Musicians
We have around 20 musicians or singers who are involved in our Sunday services each week. We have a band practice before the 10.30am and 6.30pm services.

New Musicians and Backing Vocalists
If you have musical skills, a heart for worship and to serve within the team, we hold informal auditions for potential new members on an individual basis. We are always on the look out for more people to be involved within the Worship Ministry at St Barnabas. If you would like to be involved or would like more information, please sign up below or email worship@stbk.org.uk

Sound and Audio-Visual Teams
At St Barnabas we have a team of volunteers who oversee the sound and audio visual operations for Sunday services and special events. We are always on the look out for more people to join these teams, especially to cover the sound desk. Previous experience is not essential, as training is provided. Please email Matt Ayers

Organ & Christmas Choir
The church organ was made by J.W. Walker & Sons LTD, 1934. It produces a fantastic sound and is used mainly at our quieter 9am service and for other special events during the year. Chris Cole is our Organist.
The St Barnabas Christmas Choir is made up of members of the church congregation who meet during the Christmas season to rehearse carols and specific choir items for the annual carol service.

Worship training
Once a term we meet together as a team to receive teaching on worship. Alongside the teaching there is an opportunity to enjoy fellowship with one another over a cup of coffee and croissant. We also worship together and pray for each other. Each year we have an annual team meal at a local restaurant.
